Almost a month after it had been first rumoured, Nottingham Forest have announced that first team coach Ian McParland has been made redundant. Both he and physio Gary Fleming have been shown the door in a backroom reshuffle by manager Colin Calderwood.

McParland had been at the City Ground for ten years and helped start the careers of players such as Dawson and Jenas, in his role with the academy. He will be best remembered by Forest fans for the ‘Charlie and Frank’ partnership he formed with Frank Barlow.

Along with Barlow he helped to turn a disastrous and almost relegation threatened season under Gary Megson, into promotion hopefuls. They quickly won over the fans and took the club to the brink of the playoffs in 2006. Colin Calderwood took charge in June of that year and the rest as they say, is history.

Supporters will be sorry to see McParland go and will wish him well in whatever he decides to do next.
