David McGoldrick has today secured a permanent transfer to Championship rivals Ipswich Town.

The 25 year old Nottingham born striker today signed a two year deal with the club he spent the second half of last season on loan with.

He’s the second player to leave the City Ground on a free transfer this week, after Lewis McGugan joined Watford.

McGoldrick signed a four year deal at the City Ground, when he was transferred from Southampton in 2009 for £1m. He’s barely played for the Reds’ since the end of 2011, spending much of that time out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry and Ipswich.
