Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has sent a heartfelt message to Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Our majority shareholder contracted coronavirus and announced on Instagram on Tuesday that he had been told by doctors to self-isolate. Marinakis, who is also the owner of Greek side Olympiakos, knocked Arsenal out of the Europa League and was present at the Emirates Stadium that evening.

This led to the postponement of the Citizens’ game against the Gunners on Wednesday, as both sides were not prepared to take any risks.

Walker took to Twitter to wish Marinakis all the best and was fully behind the decision to call off the game.

Do you think Forest's games will be played behind closed doors?

Following the news, both sets of players from Forest and Olympiakos took precautionary measures to get themselves tested for the virus. To everyone’s relief, all results came back negative.

It is not known at this stage whether or not our fixture against Sheffield Wednesday will take place at Hillsborough on Saturday, as we continue our chase for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

We are having our best season in the Championship in 10 years and it would be unfortunate if supporters were not able to witness such a remarkable feat from Sabri Lamouchi and his team.

Regardless of this, we must take the health and safety of all fans seriously and do what is necessary to keep everyone protected from coronavirus.
