This should hopefully be enough to put people’s minds at ease.

Well, for the next couple of days anyway, but it might be something to come back and visit towards the end of the season.

With the transfer window winding down, there’s always the potential for some surprises to come along and shake things up a bit. Like for instance AC Milan suddenly being linked with Matty Cash in a deal worth in the region of £15m.

However, according to journalist Paul Taylor, he doesn’t see any reason why Forest fans should be concerned with him leaving the City Ground any time soon. Speaking during a Q&A on The Athletic, he noted that Cash seems to be happy with things the way they are at the moment:

“And the suggestion is that Cash himself is not exactly angling for a move. We are told that he is happy to remain at Forest for the rest of the season. His stock is hardly going to fall between now and the summer, if he maintains his current performance level. There is no escaping the fact that this is something that will be revisited in the summer, presuming that he remains a Forest player once the January window has closed. This interest is not going to go away.”

The problem is though; will we be in a position come the end of the season to keep things the way they are?

It’s a problem that faces most perennial Championship clubs that don’t reach the top flight, having to sell their best players to essentially stay afloat, and it’s a problem that’s clearly making its way to Forest right now.

And it is yet another reason, along with the contract situation regarding Sabri Lamouchi, something that I have written about in the past that really makes this season seem like it could be an ‘all or nothing’ campaign, otherwise we risk having to blow things up and start again.

Is Matty Cash the best right-back in the Championship?

Yes

Yes

No

No

So let’s just hope we manage to get the transfer window, and then the rest of the season right, for more reasons than one.
