Is Highly-Rated Forest Man Set For A Championship Challenge

|

It was being reported yesterday evening that Nottingham Forest had cancelled midfielder Jorge Grant’s loan spell out with League One side Luton Town, and having recalled him during the January transfer window, the plan was to loan him out to fellow Championship side as we look for him to step up and continue his development.

The 24-year-old continues to be highly-rated and highly thought of at the City Ground having come through our youth ranks, but he’s never quite got himself up and running with us – to date he has eight starting appearances and 12 substitute showings to his name (one goal returned) and the bulk of his game time has come during two loan spells out with Notts County in previous seasons.

Having made the move to Kenilworth Road in the summer, he’s done well in his 17 starts and five substitute showings (four goals) and the Nottingham Post reported that we have now enacted the recall clause amidst plenty of interest from other clubs.

He last featured for them on Boxing Day but there’s no suggestion he had fallen out of favour based on what I can see online.

My guess is we’ll try and get him games at a Championship side below us to step him up a level, but given their manager Nathan Jones moved on to Stoke City yesterday, it could possibly be our proper connection to the club has now left so we are taking care of him and he’ll finish the season back in League One.
