Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Luke Steele was forced to take to social media yesterday to rubbish speculation that he was due to sign a deal with our effective Greek sister club, Olympiacos.
It seems reports in the Greek media got a little bit carried away with the January transfer window rumour mill, and the 34-year-old was being pretty heavily tipped with a move to the Greek Super League side which is also owned by Forest’s Evangelos Marinakis.

This certainly isn’t new when it comes to the media in football, but you don’t often get such a categoric or speedy rebuttal from the player involved.
To the Greeks ????????⚽️ It’s not true. The end ! Steely x

Having arrived at the City Ground over the summer as a free agent from Bristol City, he’s yet to feature in the Championship campaign for manager Aitor Karanka, but he has featured in five of our Cup games in 2018/19.
It’s an understandable leap for their press though as he did make almost 100 appearances for Panathinaikos earlier in his career, so he’s pretty well known over there, but it made me smile nonetheless.
Reacting to his Tweet, those Forest fans who took the time to respond were pretty adamant he should keep the shirt after his last performance against Chelsea.
