Is Calderwood Set For Shock City Ground Return?

Colin Calderwood was sacked from his post as manager of Nottingham Forest back in December 2008, following a run of results that saw the team win only 4 matches up to Christmas and had the club on a collision course straight back to League 1. Now almost 3 years on and the current manager of Hibernian, could be on his way back to the City Ground, as part of new manager Steve McClaren’s backroom staff.

Within a month of being shown the door at Forest, Calderwood joined another former Reds’ boss Joe Kinnear at Newcastle, as First Team Coach. He was appointed Assistant Manager with the Geordies, when Chris Hughton took charge in 2009.

Calderwood left Newcastle in October 2010, after he was appointed manager of SPL side Hibernian. He signed a 3 year contract at Easter Road and it still has over 2 years to run. Calderwood had a tough first season in the SPL and finished a disappointing campaign, 3rd from bottom of the table.

It’s understood that he has been offered a role as part of McClaren’s new look back room staff, but the question is whether or not it would be enough to tempt him out of the number one position at Hibs. He does have connections with Paul Barron, the man expected to be named as the new goalkeeping coach by the club, with the pair having worked together at Newcastle.
