Basically it was a reserve side, with some youth thrown in, but Forest collected a pre-season win at Ilkeston last night.

The official website reports that almost half a dozen of those on display have been training with the 1st team so they will be looking to be there or thereabouts in the upcoming season so this would have been viewed as another opportunity to impress new manager Steve McClaren.

A 25-yard screamer from Danny Meadows (30) gave Forest the lead with Patrick Bamford (45) adding a second following a fine run. Darryl Thomas (77) gave the hosts hope but Forest held on for a 2-1 win.

Kieron Wallace being carried off was an unwelcome sight for Forest fans though.
