This could be nothing more than ‘previous’ giving this one some sort of backing, but its being said that Forest may be keen on signing Tsepo Masilela – who, it would seem, would sign.

When Forest manager Steve McClaren was in charge of FC Twente he apparently tried to sign the left back, so this could be what is being used as the ‘link’ to him now?

His agent, Mike Makaab as he told KickOff.com, said that the South African international – who he said McClaren has likened to Ashley Cole, football wise! – would be keen on talking with him: ‘Steve McClaren loved him when he was at FC Twente and they made a bid for him in January last year.

‘I haven’t spoken to Steve recently but if there is interest in Tsepo then it would make sense because he told me he reminds him of Ashley Cole. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the next couple of weeks.’

The 26-year-old was due to sign for Leicester on loan, with a deal in place with Maccabi Haifa, but as he was being made to wait too long the deal fell through.

According to the agent Masilela, who he feels is ‘potentially one of the most exciting left backs in European football’, is keen on moving to England and clubs are showing interest, along with others from Spain, Holland and Scotland…
