With just over a week to go before the summer transfer window closes, Forest boss Billy Davies has made Stoke City centre half Ibrahima Sonko his number one target.

Davies has made no secret of his desire to strengthen the defence and despite his 9 summer signings to date, says the job of rebuilding the squad is only 80% done.

Sonko can’t get in the current Stoke side and has only made 14 appearances for them, since signing for £2m from Reading a year ago. He’s 28 years of age and a Senegal international. At 6ft, 3ins, he’d be the rock that we’re looking for at the heart of defence.

Jon Harley at Watford still remains a target and as mentioned yesterday, the Reds’ have made enquiries about former player Michael Dawson at Spurs. Although any deal for Daws seems fanciful, an approach has been made. The next week will be a busy one for Forest, let’s just hope it’s a rewarding one.
