QPR 1-1 Forest: Reds’ Back On Form

Forest travelled to QPR today, with the aim of getting their first win of the season and banishing the memory of the midweek mauling at the hands of Watford. They’re still in search of that elusive first win, but they did go along way to banishing the memory of that 4-2 defeat.

Former R’s striker Dexter Blackstock, was surprisingly left on the bench today, as Davies opted for Adebola and McGoldrick up front. Neither disappointed though, as the Reds’ went about their business in a very positive way right from the off.

In an open ended game, it was Rangers who struck the first blow. Mikele Leigertwood hit a wonder strike that flew into the top corner of the net, giving Camp no chance at all. Although the home side finished the half the stronger, Forest were never out of the game and were unlucky to be behind at the break.

McCleary came on at half time for the injured Lynch and this meant a reshuffle at the back. Gunter switched to right back, with McCleary taking his role. As the Reds’ went in search of an equaliser, on came Blackstock and it’s fair play to the home support, for giving him a great reception.

It was end to end stuff, with chances falling to both teams. But it was the Reds’to strike next and a well worked strike it was too. Camp pumped the ball up to Adebola, who flicked a neat ball into the path of McGoldrick. The ball bounced once in front of the striker, as he hit it on the half volley to draw the sides level.

1-1 sounded like a fair result from the radio commentary and it should give back a little of the confidence lost after the Watford defeat. We face ‘Boro in the Carling Cup on Tuesday night, followed by the big one next Saturday with the visit of the Sheep. Now that really will be a great time to our first win of the season.
