Ex-Rangers and now Aston Villa hardman defender Alan Hutton, has today signed for Nottingham Forest on a month long emergency loan deal.

Hutton failed to make Villa’s 25 man squad in the summer, so hasn’t made an appearance for the West Midlands side this season. Although he might not be in Villa manager Paul Lambert’s plans, he’s more than capable of doing a job for Sean O’Driscoll and the Reds’ in the Championship.

The 27 year old Scottish international cost Spurs a reported £9m when they signed him from Rangers back in 2007 and is now commanding a wage, thought to be in the region of £30,000 per week at Villa Park. I think it’s safe to say he wont be earning that at the City Ground, no matter how much money our owners supposedly have.

With Hutton not even close to getting his pick at Villa, there may be a deal in the making to bring him to the City Ground permanently once the January transfer window opens. There’s no doubting that the defence could do with a bit of muscle and Hutton has plenty of that. Welcome to the City Ground Alan Hutton.
