According to Expressen, Tim Erlandsson has ‘broken his contract’ with Nottingham Forest and is ‘on his way back to Sweden’. The 22-year-old has failed to make a senior appearance for the Reds since his 2015-move from Halmstads BK, and his move to Superettan side IK Frej was recently confirmed on Twitter.

A lack of first-team football is behind the move, with Erlandsson spending the majority of his time at Forest with the reserve team. He embarked upon a number of loan moves during his three-and-a-half years at the City Ground as first-team football continued to allude him.

The Swedish shot-stopper made three appearances for Barrow (November 25, 2016 – December 24, 2016), three appearances for AFC Eskilstuna (January 20, 2017 – November 30, 2017) and spent a short period at Salford (March 16, 2018 – April 16, 2018).

With Forest having Costel Pantilimon, Luke Steele and Stephen Henderson to choose from in the first-team, Erlandsson never stood much of a chance of featuring for Forest. He’ll be hoping his return to Sweden leads to regular action.

His new club are currently ninth in the Superettan with 37 points from 30 games this season, having conceded 56 goals for their troubles.
