Nottingham Forest have confirmed Arvin Appiah has signed a ‘long-term contract’ keeping him at the City Ground until 2023. The 18-year-old has made two senior appearances since rising through the youth ranks to the first-team this season, and he could further add to his tally before the campaign comes to a close.

Appiah was an unused substitute in two EFL Cup games before he featured against Burton on October 30, coming off the bench to score in a 3-2 defeat at the Pirelli Stadium. He’s made the Championship matchday squad on four occasions since December alone and was given a handful of minutes to impress against Leeds United on New Year’s Day. Forest won 4-2 at the City Ground.

The England u18 international, who has scored three goals in eight youth caps, could have a bright future at Forest. He was reportedly the subject of interest from a host of Bundesliga clubs, but it’s clear he wants to forge himself a career in the Midlands and didn’t let speculation cloud his judgement.

He’s still a raw talent so new manager Martin O’Neill is unlikely to throw him straight in the deep end this season. Appiah could be one for the future, however.
