Forest v QPR: Match Preview

Forest hope to recover from the swift kick in the knackers they received on Wednesday night, after being dumped out of the FA Cup by the Sheep. It was a dreadful night, that for some reason still hurts to think about. At least the game with the Hoops at the weekend will give the lads an ideal opportunity to put things right, as we get back to the important business of Championship survival.

It’s moneybags QPR who come to town on Saturday, in a game that will see both teams battling for the points for differing reasons. Rangers sit in 7th place and just 3 points away from the Play Offs, whilst the Reds’ sit in 17th, just 3 points away from the drop zone.

There’s a good chance we will see our good friend Lee Camp between the sticks for the visitors. His much publicised fallout with Billy the Scruff during their time at the Sheepdip, has put an end to his highly successful loan spell with us. He’ll receive a great welcome from the Forest support, who would love to have seen him signed up as a Red. Sadly that doesn’t look like happening.

Rangers have recently appointed Potuguese midfielder Paulo Sousa as manager. It was seen as something of a gamble at the time, but it’s a gamble that so far appears to be paying off, at least in terms of their League position. In his 16 games since taking over in November, he’s won 5, lost 3 and drawn 8. In contrast to that, Billy Boy has had 6 games to strut his stuff and has won 3, lost 2 and drawn 1. The honeymoon period may now be over for Davies and a win on Saturday will be seen as a must, if only to put to bed the misery of Wednesday night. Jeez, I really should let it go.

Team News:

The Reds’ have a major doubt over Captain Perchio, who is thought to be suffering from concussion, after a clash of heads in the Derby game. Tyson also went off in that game with a tightening of his dodgy hamstring. We await news on both, but the injury to Perch is the more serious. Joe Garner is available again, after completing his suspension. We’ll update the QPR team news, when we get it.

Home Player To Watch: Nathan Tyson.

He’s on fire at the moment and enjoying his best spell at the club. He’s bagged 4 goals in the last 7 games and will be sorely missed if he fails to make the game. His pace has been electrifying this season and has put the fear of God into many defences of late.

Away Player To Watch: Dexter Blackstock.

The 6ft, 1 inch former Mutton Molestor has bagged 12 goals for the Hoops this season. He’s sure to give Chambers and Co a tough time at the back.

Match Stats:

Last time out we lost 2-1 at Loftus Road. Goals from Balanta and Buzsaky secured the points for Rangers, with McGugan getting a goal for the Reds’. In 45 League games, Forest have won 19, lost 13 and drawn 13.

Score Prediction:

Hopefully we bounce back with a 2-1 win.
