Nottingham Forest striker Grant Holt was booked in to have his long overdue hernia operation next Tuesday, but due to the knock picked up by fellow striker Nathan Tyson at the weekend, the club have put it on hold for at least a fortnight.

Holt picked up a groin strain towards the end of last season, but played on through the pain barrier with the hope that rest during the close season would clear the problem up. That never happened and as a result he now needs a hernia operation.

It’s expected he’ll be out for two weeks, but with the potential problem with ‘glass legs’ Tyson the club is playing safe and holding off for another fortnight at least.

Other club news today saw the long awaited return to fitness of almost forgotten man Arron Davies. He played 76 mins for the reserves, in their 3-2 win over Shrewsbury at the City Ground this afternoon.
