Davies’ Well Timed Recovery

Arron Davies has yet to make his full first team debut since he suffered a stress fracture to his ankle in the pre season game with Motherwell. But his recovery is well underway and hopes to be back in first team action within the next couple of weeks.

That would be perfect timing, if news from the club regarding Grant Holt is true. Yesterday they said Holt would be having a hernia operation within a fortnight, just about the time that Davies would be ready for his return.

Davies had a good workout for the reserves on Tuesday in the 3-2 win over Shrewsbury. The game at Luton this weekend will probably be too soon for the former Yeovil striker, but the crucial game at home to 6th placed Tranmere on November 3 would be perfect. Three days later the Reds entertain second placed Southend in what will be a difficult three days.

If Holt goes in for surgery when planned, the return of Davies will be great news. The options upfront are otherwise scarce, with only Sinclair to pick from in the shape of fit backup.
