Club captain Paul McKenna has been an integral part of Billy Davies’ team selections this season and he’ll be sorely missed if the suspected knee injury is as bad as feared.

The player and fans alike now face an anxious wait on news of the injury, that was sustained, after an early tackle in the 1-0 victory over the Swans. He’s made 39 appearances for the Reds’ this season and has been instrumental in the turnaround in fortunes the club has had this term.

His leadership qualities on the pitch and tenacious attitude in the middle of the park, have been sadly lacking from the team for too long. If the bad news is confirmed, it could be mean the season is over for the inspirational club captain. Manager Billy Davies said in his post match comments yesterday, that McKenna had suspected knee ligament damage. Fingers crossed he’ll be Ok, we should find out more on Monday.
