Explained: How much Nottingham Forest paid to sign Chema
Nottingham Forest confirmed the signing of Chema on a two-year deal from Levante on August 8. Transfermarkt believe his transfer fee to be around £450k, but beIN Sports (h/t Nottinghamshire Live) say the 27-year-old cost £0.9m. According to Capology, Chema earns around £8.59k-per-week/£0.45m-a-year.
The new recruit has yet to make his debut for Forest, but Sabri Lamouchi is planning to give the centre-back minutes when he feels he’s ready. The Spanish defender will provide balance to the backline as a left-footed player, but he has stiff competition for a starting place – Joe Worrall, Michael Dawson, Alexander Milosevic, Yohan Benalouane, Michael Hefele, Tobias Figueiredo.
Chema has a two-year deal at the City Ground and will cost Forest around £1.8m in transfer fees and wages. The Reds have been thrifty in the transfer market this summer, bringing in a lot of free transfers, low-value players and loan signings, and their signing of Chema could be another shrewd acquisition.
The 27-year-old made 81 appearances for Levante, 45 of which came in La Liga. He spent the last two seasons in the Spanish top-flight and will bring a wealth of experience to Forest.
