Nottingham Forest can take some comfort, from the fact that they ran Premiership side Blackburn Rovers ragged in the first half of last night’s Carling Cup game. But, despite having the better chances to win the game, Forest were left licking their wounds after a second successive 1-0 defeat at home.
Reds’ boss Billy Davies says on another day, the lads would have won 4 or 5-1, but due to a lack of luck in front of goal, they’ve once again failed to come out as victors.
Davies told the official site. ‘It’s déjà vu as far as I am concerned – not just for last Saturday but for a number of weeks. For whatever reason, at this moment in time we are in a bad run of luck and it’s been consistent since the start of the season.’
You’d have to be a pretty staunch Rovers fan to deny the Reds’ deserved something from the game last night, but then others would argue, that there’s no such thing as bad luck. Forest once again did all the hard work in carving out the chances, but once again failed to bury them. The woodwork was struck, a penalty was missed and striker Robert Earnshaw, conspired to clear a Dele Adebola goal bound header off the line. These were just the latest in a shed load of chances to go begging in the last two games.
Billy Davies is still talking positively and doesn’t appear to be too concerned. ‘We are dominating games, passing the ball well and playing well but we’re not having any luck – such is life.’ Although it’s hard to disagree with what he says, the longer it goes on, the more concerned we the fans will become. Forest have only to wait until Sunday to rectify matters, when they visit Plymouth for the live game on Sky TV. How long has it been, since the Reds’ gave someone a good tonking on the tellybox?
