Nottingham Forest today announced the appointment of David Pleat as the club’s first ever Football Consultant.

The worst kept secret in City Ground history has finally come out. It had been rumoured for weeks that Pleat was the man for the job. When asked on Forest World what his roll within the club would be Pleat said ‘ i am here to help Colin and to be a sounding board for any ideas he may have.’ Pleat was at pains to say he would not have a ‘hands on roll within the club’ and that he was here to advise and help the manager. David Pleat admitted it was he who helped to bring Calderwood to Forest and said he was ‘a manager for the future, he was sensible and had his feet firmly on the ground.’

When asked what qualities he would bring to the club he said, ‘i have been involved in football for many years and with many clubs. I have many contacts and can advise and help in recruitment of players, as well as finding clubs for those we want to move on’ He also said he would not be based at the City Ground and that the job would not be on a daily basis, although he would attend meetings and was available if Colin Calderwood wanted to discuss anything. He went on to say that all managers have difficulties especially when losing and that he may be able to help with a difficult player or any political issues involving the club.
