Kris Commons went off injured in the 1-0 defeat at home to Carlisle a fortnight ago and has missed the last three games with a groin strain. Despite the temptation to do so, he says he will not rush back to first team action until he’s been declared 100% fit.

He told the official site. It would be foolish coming back too early, aggravate it and spend another couple of weeks out of the picture. Apparently it’s an acute strain high up in the groin which might take a week or two to get over. I’m hoping to be in contention for the trip to Northampton on Good Friday.’

Forest only have 10 games left to play this season in a bid to win promotion and the run in is a difficult one. There’s still games to play away at Doncaster, Carlisle and a tough one this Friday at CC’s former club Northampton. A fit Kris Commons will be essential to our promotion dreams, so he does indeed have to be eased back gently. The problem we have, is that we are now running out of games.

Commons also states that he hasn’t given up hope of gaining an automatic spot, despite being 9 points off second spot. Most fans gave up hope of that weeks ago.
