Joe Garner got his 4th goal of the season on Saturday, in the 2-0 win at St. Mary’s and earned the plaudits from manager Colin Calderwood.

It was the second and decisive goal of the game and was described by Calderwood and backed up by fans that went, as the ‘goal of the season.’ Garner hit the ball from fully 30 yards, after he saw keeper Kelvin Davies off his line.

Calderwood told The Times. ‘Because it came from a spotty ginger-haired striker who plays for Forest, it will probably not get that much attention. I knew as soon as the ball left his foot it was heading for the top corner, and if you saw that goal scored in La Liga, everybody would be talking about it.

The manager was understandably upbeat following the win, that now sees the Reds’ within touching distance of the safety zone and just 1 point behind the Saints.
