Calderwood has admitted that so long as his side is doing well on the pitch, then transfer speculation over his prize assets will continue and there’s little he can do about it.

Since the return to football of former manager Gary Megson, there have been stories in the press regarding a move for one of his former charges, Kris Commons.

CC told Sky Sports. ‘There is obviously speculation in the papers, but we have had no contact regarding any of our players. It will only intensify between now and January and probably during January. The only thing you can really enjoy through that period if the players are still performing, is that it will only make it more apparent to everyone that we have got some half-decent young players here.’

Calderwood went on to say that he was aware that other clubs were keeping a close eye on his players and said he would be amazed if any of them left for pastures new before they had finished what they had to do at Forest.

As he says, we must be doing something right to attract the attentions of others. But it does nothing for supporters anxiety when there is speculation about the likes of Commons and Tyson. As January approaches, that speculation will only grow.
