When Lewis McGugan’s 86th min strike hit the back of the net at Victoria Park, Colin Calderwood and the coaching staff couldn’t contain themselves. They celebrated in style after moving up to 3rd in the table and to within 1 point of 2nd placed Doncaster Rovers.

Speaking to the official site CC said, ‘What a feeling when the goal went in, the whole bench erupted. Fortunately the players remained calm when all around them didn’t. It was a perfect day apart from Doncaster winning, the importance of the victory is huge and the reward could be instant next week.’

The 1-0 win over Pools, sets things up nicely for a final day showdown with the team that inflicted so much pain on us last year. Yeovil will once again arrive at a packed City Ground and will once again be looking to spoil the party. But CC is already looking forward to it and said. ‘Cheltenham are a team fighting for their lives. I hope they’re ready for action. It would be absolutely poetic if we beat Yeovil to win promotion.’

Beating Yeovil is only part of what promises to be a tense day for players and fans alike. As CC says, we need Cheltenham to get a result against Donny, as well as being able to do our own job. At least the Robins have something to play for and will be giving their all to get the result they need to survive. One way or another, by this time next week we will know our fate.
