It was transfer deadline day as far as loan deals were concerned and just when you thought the men in suits had let us down yet again, up they popped with the loan signing of Dexter Blackstock from QPR.

The signing of Blackstock, although not the answer to all our woes on Trentside has seen a massive change in mood amongst supporters. In an ideal world, we’d have got a defender as well, but we can’t have everything. The bulky striker will certainly add a different dimension to our striking options and we should now pose something resembling a threat up front in the remaining six games.

Maybe the best news for fans today, came in the form of players returning from injury. Moussi, Anderson and Osbourne were said to be making good progress and all were being tipped to be available for the game at Barnsley on April 4.

Other news from NFFC today, was that youngsters Newbold and Tait are going out on loan. Newbold is off to Stalybridge Celtic, whilst Tait is off to Tamworth. Hopefully both will gain the much needed experience that will help them push on to the first team with the Reds’. All in all, not a bad days work.
