Alex Mighten scored a hat-trick for England u18s in Friday’s 3-2 win over Australia u17s and was lauded by some supporters on social media. The 17-year-old opened the scoring in the 21st minute, bagged his second 10 minutes before the break and completed his hat-trick not long after the hour mark.

Mighten has been in fine form at club level too. The Englishman scored for Nottingham Forest u23s in their 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers (August 20) and has been a regular in the reserve team this season. If Sabri Lamouchi is paying attention, Mighten could be given a run-out in the first-team soon.

The versatile winger made the matchday squad in the EFL Cup against Fleetwood Town (August 13), but he was an unused substitute at the City Ground. Mighten has two years to run on his existing deal at Forest and seems to be progressing in the right manner to eventually earn his place in the first-team.

A lot of heads were scratched after Arvin Appiah was sold, but the potential of Brennan Johnson and Mighten will more than offset his loss.
