Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies promised that there would be big changes in the playing staff at the City Ground next season and his first wave of culling at the club has hit the reserves hard.

The Forest careers of 8 of our brightest young things have been terminated, which lends more weight to the rumour that Davies will be doing away with the reserve team set up altogether.

The official site states that Richard Tait, Hamza Bencherif, Liam Hook, Tom Sharpe, Ryan Whitehurst, Adam Newbold, Emile Sinclair and Paddy Gamble have been told that their contracts, which end in the summer, will be not renewed.

Some of those have tasted first team football, but have failed to make a permanent claim in the side. Although none of them set the world alight, I personally thought Bencherif would go all the way. It’s a real shame for the youngsters that it hasn’t worked out, but hopefully they can all get fixed up with other clubs and still make it in the game.
