It’s not the first time that Big Sam has been linked with taking over at the City Ground, there have even been rumours of him putting together a bid to take over the club completely. Allardyce has been out of football since being sacked by Newcastle in January and has been linked with just about every available job since.

The paper says that talks are already underway and that Nigel Doughty is set to give Calderwood the boot, following another winless game at Doncaster last night. The 0-0 draw at the Keepmoat saw many fans calling for his head at the final whistle, with this result being the final straw for many.
