Despite previous reports suggesting Michael Dawson could return to face Luton Town on Saturday afternoon, Nottingham Forest confirmed on Friday that the 35-year-old is ‘set to miss out’. Dawson should be back in training next week, but whether he’ll be in contention to face Derby County on November 9 remains to be seen.

The former England international missed all of October due to a calf injury and could now miss a portion of November too. At the time, Sabri Lamouchi was playing down the seriousness of Dawson’s injury, but he’s still not ready to return a month later. The centre-back isn’t even back out on the training pitch.

Lamouchi will have to call upon Tobias Figueiredo or Chema Rodriguez to start alongside Joe Worrall, but Forest’s results have dipped since their captain picked up the knock. Dawson has missed four Championship games, only one of which the Reds have won. They’ve lost two on the bounce ahead of Saturday’s clash and can’t afford to drop any more points.

Forest are 10th in the table with 22 points from 13 games and have failed to win three of their last four.
