You just can’t please everyone, can you?
With fans eagerly clambering to find out when the new signings will be announced, and the local newspaper even having to reassure fans that things are usually this slow and to cool their expectations, you’d assume that when a new signing actually did come in that fans would be overjoyed.
So when Nottingham Forest finally gave in to fans demands, or rather finally got some business done, these things take time you know, things didn’t quite turn out that way when the club announced the signing of former Bolton forward Sammy Ameobi on a free transfer.
Ameobi hasn’t had the best of times in recent seasons, only getting four league goals in thirty appearances last year, but surely you’d imagine that O’Neill saw some potential in him, he wouldn’t sign him expecting to repeat his poor goal return from last year.
However, it’s fair to say that these Forest fans weren’t too thrilled to find out that Ameobi was their first signing of the summer, and they took to Twitter to voice their displeasure. A lot of fans weren’t too happy with his goal return in recent years and one fan was already plotting his departure in January.

April fool? In June?14 goals in 183 games but yet again I marvel at my fellow reds capacity to put a positive spin…it goes like this-August-a couple of average games-legend, by Oct realise he’s terrible-see Cummings/McKay for recent examples-but I do wish I had ythful optimism

Please tell me this is a joke lads. You had us at Maradona taking charge in 2012, you had us over when assombalonga and Burke was coming back but now now is the time for the jokes the stop. I shall be expecting a notification that colback has signed in the morning. #nffc

The standard ‘please make sure you mention the history of the club in the first three seconds’ memo to new players was obviously received by Sammy????????

He’s a top striker, and he’s proved to us last year he can score goals, he scored about 4….
