Matty Cash was one of many Nottingham Forest players who impressed against Stoke City on Friday, drawing praise from supporters on social media following another solid performance at right-back.

Sabri Lamouchi has used the 22-year-old in a makeshift role following injuries to Tendayi Darikwa and Carl Jenkinson, but Cash could be keeping his place on merit if his performances are anything to go by.

In the 3-2 win over Stoke, he played a full 90 minutes, made 75 touches, won two aerial duels, created one chance, completed 71.1% of his 45 passes, whipped in three crosses with 67% accuracy, made one tackle, blocked two shots, made one interception, completed one dribble and made one clearance.

Cash has made 10 appearances in all competitions for Forest and may remain a regular even when Darikwa and Jenkinson return. There are many supporters who believe he’s good enough to stay at right-back for the remainder of the season, so time will tell what Lamouchi does in the coming weeks.

Forest’s win over Stoke saw them go top of the Championship table with 18 points from nine games, having won three on the bounce. Cash is one of many playing his his part in their success.
