A move for Jack Clarke will give Lamouchi a lot more flexibility going forward – Opinion

One move can solve a lot of problems.

That’s the situation Nottingham Forest could find themselves in if this move goes through.

According to Sporting Life (via Nottinghamshire Live), Forest are interested in making a move for Jack Clarke. Clarke has struggled for minutes so far at Elland Road this season, and if he does end up being recalled by his parent club Tottenham Hotspur, then Forest will be hoping to pounce on him.

My colleague Crippy Cooke noted yesterday that the move seemed a bit of a strange one because Nottingham Forest have already got, not so much a ‘surplus’ of wingers, but certainly a decent supply. Forest already have the likes of Joe Lolley, Albert Adomah, Sammy Ameobi and to a lesser extent Joao Carvalho who has found himself on the wing a couple of times this season.

A move like this though will allow players to shift around more and give the team a lot more options across the pitch.

For instance, it will give Forest another option in the centre-forward department as it will allow Ameobi to move inside and offer backup for Lewis Grabban alongside Rafa Mir (thus negating the need to go out and spend on one in the January window, despite reports suggesting they will).

On top of that, Joao Carvalho will be able to fall back into his natural central-midfield spot more often, a position that saw him offer a lot more to the team than he currently is this season. Five assists and two goals by this stage in the league last season, compared to just one assist in this campaign.

Whether or not he manages to get as more minutes than he has at Elland Road this season, will just have to be seen, but the chances are that he will.

Would a move for Jack Clarke be a good move for Forest?

Yes

No

Lamouchi has only named an unchanged team twice this season; against West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United, and then the two recent games against Luton Town and Derby County. So given his love for rotating, it’s possible that he’ll get more minutes here then up at Elland Road, and as pointed out, it will not only benefit him, but the rest of the squad as well.
