Joe Lolley has been short of form for Nottingham Forest of late, struggling to score a goal or make an assist in the last month-and-a-half and it’s had a bearing on recent results. The Reds have dropped points in seven of their last nine league games and find themselves four points adrift of the Championship playoffs.
Lolley has created only one chance in six of his last seven appearances in all competitions, so it’s hardly surprising that he’s not racking up assists. Since scoring his last goal for Forest – against Aston Villa on November 28 – the 26-year-old has averaged one shot on target per 80 minutes (eight shots on target in his last eight league appearances).
His dip in form is really bad timing for Forest, as Lewis Grabban has struggled of late too. The 31-year-old hasn’t scored in his last six games and no other player has stepped up to the mantle. Forest have failed to score in five of their last seven Championship outings.
After Grabban (14 goals) and Lolley (6 goals, 7 assists), Matty Cash (5) is next in the scoring charts, but he’s only scored two since November and hasn’t netted in his last four appearances. Joao Carvalho (3) and Daryl Murphy are joint-fourth for goals, but the former hasn’t scored since November and the latter only has one league goal to his name since August.
Lolley can’t do it all on his own.
