A short time ago this morning, Nottingham Forest confirmed the speculation linking former player Martin O’Neill with a return to the City Ground, but now as manager.
The Northern Irishman already holds his place in our history as with 371 appearances and 62 goals, he more than played his part under Cloughie in lifting the First Division title, two European Cups and two League Cups.

Counting Wycombe Wanderers, Leicester City and Aston Villa as his managerial successes in the game, there’s also a tiny spell at Celtic to factor into his time in the dugout.
He was most recently in charge of the Republic of Ireland national team and whilst I imagine he was the first choice for few fans, it’s very much a case of ‘welcome home’ and we begin a new chapter – which will hopefully end with promotion back to the top flight.
After the Aitor Karanka disappointment, this has certainly lifted most.
Welcome Martin. THe number of times since 1993 you were set to manage us must be a record but you finally here. Think we must all make the most of it.

Outstanding! However he will need two or three seasons. It's almost impossible to solve all Forest problems in 5 months. Everybody has to be patient. #NFFC
