‘YESSS’, ‘Quality signing’ – some Forest fans are delighted with deadline-day signing

|

On Friday morning, Nottingham Forest confirmed the signing of Molla Wague on loan from Udinese until the end of the season. The centre-back struggled for playing time with the Serie A outfit and opted to join Forest to get more opportunities at the City Ground.

Supporters took to social media to express their delight in signing Wague and believe the defender could be a shrewd acquisition. With Forest suffering an injury crisis at the back – Michael Hefele is out for the season, Michael Dawson has a hamstring injury and Tobias Figueiredo has a leg injury – Wague could be the solution to their problems.

The 27-year-old has played for SM Caen (56 appearances), Granada, Leicester City (one appearance) and Watford (seven appearances). He joined Udinese on a permanent deal in 2017 and has gone on to make 42 appearances in all competitions for the Italian outfit. But with Wague amassing only 94 minutes of Serie A football this season, Forest looked an attractive proposition.

Forest travel to St Andrews to face Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon and Martin O’Neill may have a selection headache on who to play at centre-back. Wague had been struggling with a calf injury of late, so he might not be deemed fit enough to make his debut.
