O’Neill has incurred criticism from supporters over his squad selection, but not this time. Vital Forest recently highlighted that Aitor Karanka fared better in charge of the club this season than his successor, but there’s still time to turn things around with six games remaining.
Forest can’t afford to get it wrong against Wednesday as their hopes of promotion hang in the balance following a poor run of form. After 40 games this season, the Reds find themselves ninth in the Championship with 57 points, coming off the back of only one win in their last four and no away win since November 2018.
Defeat to the Owls would see them leapfrogged in the table and fall further away from the top-six with games running out. As things stand, Forest are five points adrift of Bristol City in sixth who have a game in hand on the Midlands outfit. Only a win will do, but they’ve only won three away games all season and face a Wednesday side who have lost just once in 13 at home.
