John Bostock underperformed for Nottingham Forest in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Wigan Athletic and found himself hauled off before the hour mark as a result. The 27-year-old has been short of playing time since joining on loan from Toulouse and his rustiness showed at the DW Stadium.
Against Wigan, Bostock played for 54 minutes, made 43 touches, won two aerial duels, created two chances, made one interception, completed 73.7% of his 38 passes, boasted a 100% cross completion, drew one foul and made one tackle. He gave away three fouls, however, and wasteful on the ball.
Mir and bostock were shocking. Thought silva made a impact. Let’s look forward to Hull at home. Come on you reds!!! #nffc

Mir, Bostock and Robinson all woeful today. Figueiredo very close to that category. Back to it Wednesday, start Grabban. #NFFC

Positive with Lamouchi is that he could see Mir and Bostock were having an awful game and took them both off in the 55th minute. Whereas an O’Neill or Warbuton would have waited until at least the 80th minute to change it. Miles better when they both came off #nffc

Bostock's lack of game time showed today, but he was the right man to replace the irreplaceable in Sow imo. Silva though must start on Wednesday, considerable improvement once he & Grabbs came on. #NFFC

Bostock – first competitive game since Derby in the League Cup on 27th August, 55 days ago. Given that statistic he did fairly well despite the inevitable ‘ring rust’ 73% passing accuracy, won his aerials & cracking through ball for Mir just before he was substituted #NFFC

The central midfielder has made four appearances in all competitions for Forest this season, racking up 260 minutes of playing time.
Bostock played 90 minutes for the Reds in the EFL Cup against Fleetwood Town (August 13), was given 26 minutes in the Championship against Charlton Athletic (August 21) and had 90 minutes in the EFL Cup against Derby County (August 27) before his Wigan outing.
He deputised for Sambo Sow on Sunday but is likely to miss out when the 30-year-old returns. Alfa Semedo & Ryan Yates will provide stiff competition in midfield too. Forest next face Hull City on October 23 and will be desperate to return to winning ways.
