If Nottingham Forest attacker Joe Lolley hadn’t been on the radar of opposition clubs and those in the Premier League prior to the Aston Villa clash, he certainly was following it and the list of clubs he’s now being linked with a January move to has grown to include Watford, Cardiff City, West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle United and Fulham.

Given the 26-year-old’s form so far this year that has seen him (prior to this weekend’s clash with Ipswich Town) score seven times in 23 appearances across all competitions – including a season-best goal return in League competition) he definitely deserves the attention and the plaudits he’s getting but Forest would be mad to sell him given where we sit in the second tier table and the promotion hopes we harbour.

His importance to the side certainly wasn’t lost on those fans above who reacted to the latest speculation as carried by the Daily Mail at the end of last week.

£5million as a suggestion is pathetic to say the least given what James Maddison moved for, and Jack Grealish is said to be apparently worth.

I’ll worry when the rumours suggest upwards of £20million as that would at least be the right ballpark to debate the question.

  • Fulham and Cardiff – well I’m sure that if he’s minded to move to the premier league he’d want more than half a season there.
West Brom – forget it there’s no way Forest would sell to a promotion rival. Sideways move so all they could offer him is potentially a bigger pay packet.
Newcastle, Watford, Leicester – possible but they’d have to cough up way more than the reported £5M. Papers talk as if Forest are desperate for cash, they forget we got rid of players and have £7/8 million coming in for Brereton in January (and he hasn’t scored a goal yet).
