Forest made no secret about their desire to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Ben Watson in the summer and it looks like Palace boss Neil Warnock is trying to halt any attempt by the Reds’ to sign him again.

The two clubs had agreed a fee for the player in the summer, but Watson turned down a move to the City Ground, saying he’d prefer to go to QPR. It’s been widely assumed since that he’d join Rangers in January, so why Warnock is spouting off now is anyone’s guess.

It could be that the wily Warnock is attempting to hike up the price for his star man and make money bags Rangers up their price. I think most Forest fans assumed the deal was dead. Judging from Watson’s actions during the summer, it’s unlikely he’d move here.

Warnock told the South London Press. ‘I’ve no intention of letting Ben go at the minute – even in August I didn’t want him to leave.’ It would be a surprise if Forest renewed their interest in a player that gave them the finger, then again think Neil Danns. We must have tried at least three times to sign him.
