Former Rangers and Brentford manager Mark Warburton has this afternoon been appointed as the new manager of Nottingham Forest.

Warburton has been regularly linked with the City Ground over the last month or so and plenty of speculation saw him as our number 1 replacement for Phillipe Montanier following his departure, and today that speculation became fact with the 54 year old signing a two and a half year deal at the club.

Joining him is David Weir who takes the position of assistant manager and knows Warburton and his methods well having worked with him at both Rangers and Brentford previously.

He takes charge for his first game in this weekend’s East Midlands derby at the City Ground against Derby County.
