Several media sources are today reporting that Walsall winger Jamie Paterson is about to sign for Nottingham Forest, after both clubs’ have agreed a fee.

The Bescot Banter were one of the first to break the news. They believe a fee of £700,000 has been agreed.

Paterson is one of the most highly rated prospects in League 1 and was an everpresent in the Walsall side that finished the 2012/13 campaign in 9th place. Last season he made a total of 51 appearances in all competitions and scored 13 goals.

The winger is only 21 years of age and has been on the radar of Championship rivals Huddersfield Town. It’s thought the Terriers had two bids for Paterson turned down. He’s come through the ranks at the Bescot and will be familiar with Reds’ Deputy Manager Ned Kelly, following his 9 day spell with the Saddlers earlier this season.
