Nottingham Forest defender Chris Gunter, is once again linked with a move away from the City Ground, as Prem boys Aston Villa join the list of clubs showing an interest in the player.

According to the Daily Star, Villa are ready to table a £2.5m bid for the Welsh international.

Forest paid £1.75m to Spurs in 2009 for Gunter and his stock will only have risen since then. New Villa boss Paul Lambert is obviously a keen admirer of Gunter’s, having also been linked with a move for him whilst he was still manager of Norwich.

Gunter still has a full year left on his City Ground contract and the club will be holding out for as much as they can get. With Norwich, Swansea, Fulham and now Villa keeping a close watch on things, the Reds’ will be hoping that a bidding war ensues.
