Unbeaten Run Comes To An End

Forest end a 19 game unbeaten run at the home of bitter rivals Derby County, thanks to a 79th minute goal from Rob Hulse. It was a game the Reds’ struggled to get into, despite making a good start. Derby soon took control of the game though and had Forest on the back foot for long periods.

The first half was short on quality from both teams, but for Forest, young Majewski was looking lively. Keeper Lee Camp was forced into making two cracking saves in the first half, to keep the home side at bay. The teams went into the break on level terms, which was probably slightly fortunate from a Forest perspective.

The second half was much the same, with Derby having the better chances to take the lead. Forest were guilty of giving the ball away all too frequently and lacked the composure that has seen such a remarkable climb up the table and a turnaround in our fortunes.

The killer goal came from a cross off a Kris Commons free kick, that saw Hulse head in at the near post. The Reds’ will hopefully put this down to a bad day at the office and put it behind them.

It’s a lousy way to end the fantastic run, but they will hopefully be able to pick themselves up. They get the chance to do exactly that next week, with the visit to the City Ground of Sheffield Wednesday. Apologies for the tardy report. Like most, I’m gutted.
