Nottingham Forest may have to fight out the rest of their League One promotion push with just two fit strikers.

The club are waiting anxiously to discover how seriously Nathan Tyson is hurt after the front man picked up another medial ligament injury to his knee.

It is the same knee Tyson injured at the start of the season that kept him out for more than three months and he is expected to undergo a scan tomorrow.



But with Junior Agogo already ruled out for the season with a groin problem and Scott Dobie struggling with a thigh strain, it leaves Grant Holt and Jack Lester as the only fit front men going into the crucial last four games of the campaign.

Colin Calderwood’s side pulled back a point on second-placed Bristol City, who lost at Gillingham, but were still left massively frustrated at their failure to beat relegation strugglers Rotherham.

And the injury to Tyson only added to their woes, although Calderwood says they are yet to find out how serious it is.

‘It is his medial ligament in his knee. There is a grading system for how bad they are but the physios are reluctant to give a grading just yet until the swelling has gone down,’ said Calderwood.

‘Then they will be able to do their tests and have a better idea.

‘He is certainly very doubtful for this weekend. We will have to see in the next few days.’

But Calderwood backed Grant Holt and Lester to fire the goals they need to get back to winning ways at Brentford on Saturday.

Forest had Holt to thank for their point yesterday, as he fired home his 17th goal of the season from the penalty spot to haul them level, following Chris O’Grady’s tenth-minute opener.

Calderwood praised Grant for his ‘huge amount of effort in the last two games’.
