The Daily Mirror is today reporting that Forest striker Nathan Tyson could be heading out of the City Ground at the end of the season and on his way down the A52 to join arch rivals Derby County.

Tyson is still only 28 years old and has been at the City Ground since signing from Wycombe Wanderers for £675,000 in January 2006. It would seem a strange move for the lad, bearing in mind the now legendary flag waving antics of last season. Infact, his most noticeable and memorable performances in a Forest shirt have been against the Sheep.

The striker is out of contract at the end of this season and it would appear that the club are prepared to let him go, having not yet offered him a new deal. Blackpool were linked with a January move for Tyson, but the club managed to bat that one away. As things stand now, he looks to be on his way somewhere in the summer and it could be for free.

Although Tyson is a favourite with the fans, his strike rate since joining the club in 2006, isn’t as impressive as some might think. He’s scored 40 goals in 174 appearances for the Reds’, which is only 0.25 goals per game. He’s a grafter and a very likeable player, but it does look very much like the Championship is a step too far in his career.

  • This is the same support he joyously waved a flag at about a year ago? – Got to love football haven’t you 😉

  • He’s not good enough as has been proved by five years of under performance and a lack of any clue on how to finish. If he cat do it at 28 it”s never going to happen. Nice bloke though and wish him well in finding a club.

  • He’s not got enough for the top end of the championship anyway, and as the article suggests, only seems to play well against the Sheep (perhaps that’s why they want him!). Shame to let him go on a free though as we could have got maybe £400-500k for him.

  • Maybe he’ll take huis flag with him. 🙂

    No chance of this happening.

Ian Holloway offered £1m for him earlier this season, I think he’d rather go to Blackpool than skinty derby. Lol

  • He wants to move back down south apparently. So I don’t see him going to either Blackpool or the Sheep. Won’t be a big loss.
