A Starring role on a televised football show has earned Armitage soccer ace Daniel Craythorne a trial with double European Cup winners Nottingham Forest.

The ten-year-old caught the eye of the Forest scouts after winning through to the national finals of Channel Five’s Match Academy programme, which is currently being shown at 11am on Sundays. Daniel was selected from hundreds of youngsters aged eight-12 from across the country to attend a week-long academy, where he received expert tuition from some of the UK’s finest coaches.

At the end of the week, he was picked by former Aston Villa boss John Gregory to take on a Harry Redknapp XI in a match, which was played at the famous Sheffield Arena.

The Scotch Orchard School pupil, who currently plays for Boley Park FC, is also a keen cricketer and helped Lichfield CC under-11s win their league this summer.
