Today In The Championship

It’s another big weekend for the basement clubs at the bottom of the Championship and none more so, than the game at The Valley between the Addicks and Forest.

Billy Boy gets to pick his first team sheet, as he takes his first game in charge of the Reds’. With Watford getting thumped 4-0 at Reading last night, today gives us a great chance of making some progress up the table and away from the drop zone. Safety will be Davies’ number one priority this season and a victory at Charlton will get his tenure at the City Ground off to a flying start. Depending on results elsewhere, we could jump to 19th in the table, if results go our way.

Southampton face a tricky game at a resurgent Barnsley and need the points as much as us. Although they sit second from bottom, they’re only a point behind Forest and with Doncaster’s game at Brizzle being called off, they will be looking at us to slip up to pull away from the relegation zone.

The game that will hold the key on todays’ league table, will be the one at Brammall Lane, where the Blunts take on Norwich. The Canaries sit one place and two points above the Reds’ and we really need United to stuff them.

Another team that could do us a massive favour today is Cardiff. They take on the Sheep and could put the Mutton Molestors in all sorts of trouble with a win. It’s also Nigels’ first game in charge and as hard as I try, I just can’t wish him well. All in all, it’s going to be another exciting day, in what’s shaping up to be an exciting season.
