It’s congratulations to Swansea City for gaining promotion to the Championship after their 2-1 win at Gillingham (God that hurt). It has to be said they deserve it for being the most consistent and the best team in the division (and that hurt even more). The defeat for Gillingham though, sees them firmly entrenched in the relegation zone still 3 points from safety.

Whilst they were celebrating in the Valleys, Luton and Port Vale were drowning their sorrows, following relegation to League 2. The Hatters fell through the trap door after losing 2-1 at home to Brighton. Vale join them courtesy of a 0-0 draw with Huddersfield. Unlucky guys.

Back at the top and Carlisle deserve a good slapping for losing to the Lucky Boys 3-2. They took the lead at Elland Road with a Scott Dobie rarity, his 3rd for the Cumbrians since failing here so spectacularly. Victory for Carlisle would have put an end to our dreams of automatic promotion once and for all. But as it is, we’re left flirting with the idea for another week.

Forest did the playoff aspirations of Tranmere no favours at all, with the 2-0 smash and grab at Prenton Park. The victory has almost guaranteed us our place in the dreaded playoffs, which should be confirmed next week with a win over the sorry Hatters.

The only result that did anything for us, was the 1-1 draw between Southend and the Cobblers. We now have a 1 point lead on the Shrimpers, who sit in 5th. Walsall still have a shout at getting into the top 6, after beating Cheltenham 2-1 away. Brighton are in with a shout also, their win at Luton puts them level with the Saddlers.

Bournemouth survive for another week after a 2-1 win at home to Bristol Rovers. But with only 3 games left to play and 6 points adrift of safety, the trap door is open and pulling them in. Millwall made themselves safe with a 1-0 win at Hartlepool.
