This Weekend In The Championship

The Baggies of West Brom regained top spot in the table, with a comfortable 4-1 win over Brizzle. A 3rd min opener from Jerome Thomas kicked it all off, with further goals from Cox, Brunt and an OG from Carey sealing the win. The Baggies are a point in front of the Geordies, who have to travel to Preston on Monday.

Fester continue to impress and grabbed the points with an injury time strike from Andy King. His 94th min goal at home to Plymouth, takes the Foxes up to 3rd in the table.

Swansea helped to give us all a good laugh on Friday night and in the process, heaped even more misery on the struggling Sheep. The 1-0 win at the Liberty, secures 4th spot for the Swans and sends the Mutton Molesters down to 19th, just 2 points above the drop zone. You have to admit, the goings on at the Sheep Dip this season, are a source of great amusement for us Trickies. Long may it continue.

Cardiff and QPR suffered defeats, at the hands of Doncaster and Barnsley respectively. Ian Holloway’s Blackpool, saw their recent good form come to a halt, following a 2-1 away defeat to Reading. Former Red Brett Ormerod got a consolation goal for the Seasiders, but alas it wasn’t enough. It’s far from doom and gloom for the Donkey Lashers though, as they sit in joint 5th, level on points with Cardiff and QPR.

Forest are very steadily and very assuredly, going about rebuilding their reputation for playing the free flowing, tippy tappy stuff that we all know and love. The 1-1 draw away at ‘Boro, didn’t quite pull up any trees in the first half, but a second half display from the lads, once again showed they can pull back a deficit and don’t know when they’re beat. We actually drop a place down to 9th, but the feelgood factor around the club still abounds, as the unbeaten run now stretches to 9 games. Slappa my thigh and call me Shirley, it’s great to be a Forest fan!

Down at the basement, things continue to go tits up for Roy Keane and the Tractor Boys of Ipswich. They could only manage a 0-0 draw at home to the Wendy’s of Sheffield and Peterborough stay rooted to the bottom, after a 1-0 away defeat at the Blunts.

All in all, not a bad weekend for the Reds’. We refuse to be beaten and the Sheep refuse to win. Next up for Forest, it’s Donny at home. Can we really make it 10 without loss? I’m beginning to think we can.
